The right way to grow your own

Growing food is something Kath Irvine in Horowhenua, is passionate about. She talks to JILL GALLOWAY about having an edible garden.

Kath Irvine wants to see people succeed in growing food.

"Lots of people have got it wrong. If people do get it right, they are more likely to continue growing their own vegetables and fruit."

She runs seminars in her garden to show how it is done. They range from beginning gardening, with the raising of seed and crop rotation, to the autumn home medicine chest.

The place she and partner Matt Thorpe share with their four children, aged 7 to 14, is east of Ohau in Horowhenua.
